End of Year Coming Up!
by John Ricard - Monday, 11 May 2009, 06:29 PM
Well, it is May and the end of the school year is almost here! We are going to be having our finals over the last week of the year (check the schedule online for when each class is taking their exams). We will review the week prior to the final exams. This leaves us with this week (5/11-5/15) and next week (5/18-5/22) to get our final lessons in for the year. Latin I - we will finish up with Stage 8 and then move on to a fun project for next week. Latin II - we will finish up with Capitulum VIII and a quiz this week. We will be moving on to a fun exploration of ancient philosophy next week. Latin III - we will finish up with Capitulum XI and just like Latin II, we will move into an exploration of ancient philosophy. Introduction to Latin - after our successful projects of the forum of Pompei, we will finish up with Stage 5 for the year. As always, you can follow class updates and assignment on http://www.twitter.com/lingualatina

Welcome Back!
by John Ricard - Monday, 25 August 2008, 06:52 PM
Salvete Discipuli et Parentes! Romae.org continues to serve as our online base of operations for our Latin courses. Last year, we built the site and tested it out for the first time but now we are going to use it more regularly as a part of our curriculum! Stay tuned for upcoming developments and announcements. Open House at DCS is August 28th and we will be handing out information on the site and how both parents and students can make good use of Romae. Gaudeamus igitur!

Check out our new Mythology Section!
by John Ricard - Sunday, 11 May 2008, 08:24 PM
Just in time to help out our students with their Mythology Projects, for the upcoming Nox Latina: we are launching our very own wiki that will be built specifically to discuss classical mythology!

In order to see what is going on, follow this link to the Mythology section of Romae's website. Feel free to read up on all the topics that have been started so far.

The beauty of a wiki is that it is an never-ending, ongoing conversation about a specific subject. It isn't just something that you passively participate in, but you can also actively engage. In order to join the discussion, all you have to do is sign up and create an account - its free and you will even have your own page to edit as you see fit!

You can then join in and edit any of the pages so that our discussion on mythology is always fresh, new, exciting and updated. So get going!

Nota Bene! Nox Latina Approaches DCS
by John Ricard - Saturday, 26 April 2008, 02:08 PM
That's right, we are going to end the year with a big exclamation point - the Nox Latina!

This year's theme is going to be based on mythology - Of Gods, Heroes and Monsters! So get ready to sink deep into the strange world of mythology where you will not only learn about the ancient cultures that the Romans were inspired by, but you will also learn about the eternal forces that have shaped our very own culture as well.

There will be various projects heading toward the culmination which is the evening event itself. And parents, you will be invited as well so that we can proudly show off the work of all of our students. So be ready to be amazed and entertained!
